S-Series : Diffusion Sensor/Transmitter
The RKI S series gas sensor/transmitters are highly reliable and cost effective basic 4-20 mA transmitters for the detection of common gas hazards. The S series transmitters are available for LEL (catalytic), LEL (IR) CH4, LEL (IR) HC, O2, H2S, CO, or CO2 (IR). The electronics are encased inside a potted package to avoid damage from mechanical abuse or corrosion, and this assembly is installed inside an explosion-proof enclosure. All sensors are explosion-proof with flame arrestors and approved for use in hazardous atmospheres. There is also an optional version for oxygen for use in non-hazardous atmospheres.
The only tools required to calibrate the S series are a voltmeter, screwdriver, and cal gas. The zero and calibration functions are performed by adjusting potentiometers on the amplifiers. The amplifier has test jacks for connecting to a voltmeter for calibration purposes, and the sensor response is viewed on the voltmeter as a 100 mV to 500 mV signal. Field calibration can be performed easily and quickly by one person.
The S series transmitters can be used either indoors or outdoors. The flame arrestors utilize a patented coating which make them water repellent, and splash guards are also available for use in very wet environments.
The transmitter operates from 24 VDC (11VDC to 30 VDC), and provides a 4-20mA signal which can be connected to a wide variety of controllers.

M2A : Stand Alone Transmitter
Stand Alone Explosion Proof TransmitterDatasheet• Manual • Spanish Datasheet • Spanish Manual
The RKI M2A™ is a state-of-the-art transmitter that can operate as an independent, stand-alone monitor or as part of an integrated system. The M2A connects with an analog or digital signal to virtually any controller, PLC, or DCS. Setup procedures are simplified with user friendly push buttons and OLED menus. It utilizes a magnetic wand technique for performing non-intrusive calibration. The M2A provides an automatic zero drift correction feature, which results in more stable readings and reduces the need for adjustments due to sensor aging.
The housing of the M2A does not need to be opened for zeroing or calibration, making it unnecessary to declassify the area for routine maintenance. It is designed so that a complete field calibration can be performed by one person. Sensor construction is rated Class I, Div. 1 Groups B, C, D for flammables, CO, H2S, O2, and CO2, and Class I, Div. 2 for all other toxics.
The transmitter provides a 4-20 mA output in addition to a Modbus digital output. It also has two levels of alarms with relays, plus a fail alarm with relay. A digital display of the gas concentration, as well as alarm and status lights, can be viewed through the front window.
The toxic sensors are electrochemical type plug-in sensors, which provide high specificity, fast response, and long life. The plug-in design allows quick replacement in the field with no tools required. Toxic sensors are designed for use in Class I, Div. 2 hazardous locations. PS-2 : Single Point Stand Alone Monitor
A perfect low cost solution for hydrogen detection in battery rooms, or for LEL or PPM level detection of a variety of flammable or solvent vapors in general industry.
The Model PS 2 is a multipurpose gas monitor utilizing a MOS (metal oxide sensor) for long lasting and low maintenance detection at the LEL or PPM levels of many gases or vapors. The PS 2 has two alarm levels for increasing gas or vapor levels, at the PPM level for detection of many solvent vapors, or for LEL level detection of flammable vapors. Inquire at the factory for your specific requirement. Each alarm level activates a 12 amp relay inside the unit, and terminals are provided for wiring the relay to activate an external alarming device or some other device such as a ventilation fan.
This stand alone unit is housed in a durable plastic enclosure with flanges provided for wall mounting and is designed with easy access wiring hubs on the bottom of the unit. The front of the PS 2 contains three lights; Pilot, Alarm 1, and Alarm 2. An internal audible alarm (85 db) is also built in which activates in a gas alarm condition.
The standard PS 2 is supplied with the gas sensor located on the end of a 30 foot cable (other cable distances are also available). Each unit is powered by 115 VAC standard or 24 VDC as standard (48 VDC versions optional), and the AC version comes complete with a 6' power cord.

Detectable Gases
The PS 2 uses a Metal Oxide Semiconductor (MOS) type sensor for the detection of gases and vapors. This MOS sensor is known for its very long life and truly low maintenance requirements. The PS 2 and its MOS sensor effectively respond to a wide variety of hydrocarbons and other gases or vapors. Alarms can be set for OSHA established TLV levels for many gases or solvent vapors, and at LEL levels for flammable vapor warnings.
Since the PS 2 sensor is a general hydrocarbon sensor, it is not specific for any particular gas. This instrument will perform best if used in an area where the only gas or vapor present, besides fresh air, is the gas or vapor that you wish to detect. If used in an area contaminated with many different gases or vapors, false alarms may occur. Please carefully evaluate the application and the area to ensure that no interfering gases are present.
The PS 2 is an effective solution for solvent vapor monitoring around degreasers or other processes, hydrogen monitoring in battery rooms, natural gas detection in basements around landfills, and many others. Please consult the factory for practical alarm points for your application.

RKI is proud to produce the most versatile portable gas detector on the market. The EAGLE is a powerful instrument that does more than offer standard confined space protection. The EAGLE also provides detection combinations never before offered in a portable gas monitor featuring the industry’s widest selection of high quality, long life and field proven sensors.
The EAGLE’s ergonomic design offers easy access to controls such as autocalibration, alarm silence, demand zero, peak hold and a wide variety of other features. Each channelhas 2 alarm levels plus TWA and STEL alarms for toxic channels. Alarm levels are adjustable and can be latching or self resetting.
Standard features on the EAGLE are not available on most other competitive units such as PPM/LEL hydrocarbon detection (5 ppm resolution) and a methane elimination switch for environmental applications. For quick response and recovery, the EAGLE has a strong internal pump which can draw samples from over 125 feet. The EAGLE will con-tinuously operate for over 30 hours on alkaline batteries or 18 hours on Ni-Cads. Many accessories such as long hoses, special probes, datalogging, continuous operation adapters, remote alarms and strobes, dilution fittings, inter-nal hydrophobic filter, etc, are available to help satisfy almost any application. Rugged, weather resistant, easy to operate and maintain, the EAGLE is the industry’s answer to portable gas detection in many applications, including land surey.
EnclosureWeather resistant, chemical resistant, RF/EMI coated high impact polycarbonate polyester blend. Can be set in rain or into 2.5 inches of water without damage. Ergonomically balanced with rugged top mounted handle.Dimensions10.5" long x 5.9" x 7" tallWeight5 lbs.Detection PrincipleCatalytic combustion, electrochemical cell, galvanic cell, and infrared.Sensor Life2 years under normal conditions.Sampling MethodPowerful, long-life pump (over 6,000 hours) can draw samples over 125 feet. Flow rate approximately 2.0 SCFH.Display4 x 20 LCD readout with backlighting. Viewed through window in case top. Displays readings & status of all channels simultaneously.Alarms2 alarms per channel plus TWA and STEL alarms. Fully adjustable for levels, latching or self reset and silenceable.Alarm MethodBuzzer 85dB at 30 cm, dual high intensity LED’s, and blinking display.Controls6 external push buttons for operation, demand zero, and autocalibration.
